OLB Kevin Harris II works out for South Carolina

Four-star linebacker Kevin Harris II, who visited South Carolina for camp, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 9 outside linebacker in the Class of 2019. Now, he’s been trying his hand at something new.
Earlier this month, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., worked out for assistant coach Mike Peterson at the Gamecocks’ “Buck” position, a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker spot.
“I learned how to drop back into coverage, basically. I didn’t really know how to do that before, because I play defensive end at my school,” Harris said.
He added, “I feel like I could play that position well.”
The first session of the Will Muschamp Football Camp was Harris’ second visit to the South Carolina campus.
“I have nothing bad to say about South Carolina. Everything is close by the stadium, practice facilities. I think it’s nice,” he said.
Muschamp has made a good impression, though Harris said he is still getting to know the Gamecocks coach.
“I think he’s cool. I think he’s doing a great job right now,” Harris said. “We haven’t been able to talk a whole lot individually, but every time I see him, I go up and greet him.”
Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, South Carolina and Tennessee are among the teams that have offered.
“I’m looking at the coaching staff, probably proximity to home and I just have to feel like the school – it just has to feel like home to me,” Harris said.
Several factors will be considered as he moves through the process.
“Everything is still up in the air. I don’t really have a list of schools right now or favorites,” Harris said. “I’m just going around and looking at schools, taking it all in.”
