I'm saying it right now. The expectation has and always will be to get to Omaha. Anything less, in any given year will always be a disappointment. That's what this program is all about! I wanted to see this team three peat very badly, it sucks that we lost. No one remembers who got the second place trophy. We had some great leaders the past three years, thank you Roth, Walker, Marzilli, Matthews, and Price. It's time to keep the train rolling though. Some of the freshmen have got to really improve at the plate going into next season. I hope they work extremely hard in the off season and dedicate themselves to being the best they can be like those that are now leaving. I WILL NEVER lower my expectations for Gamecock baseball. Now that these guys have gotten a taste of getting to Omaha and the finals, I hope they will be hungry for more. Offensively, somehow, someway, we've got to get better. It's really pathetic that when all is said and done we only had one, that's right one player in the starting lineup that hit over .300. I mean, come on! Arizona had eight. I also hope these players learn to be patient at the plate. What Dantzler did in the 7th after Walker had battled his rear end off to get a walk was inexcusable. You see a guy before you battle and battle, foul off pitch after pitch, finally get a walk, and then you're going to go up there and swing at the first pitch and pop up. That's ridiculous. Maybe now they will realize that you aren't going to hit home runs at TD Ameritrade Park. In closing, it's hard to believe another season has come to an end. Time just goes by way too fast. I wish all the seniors and draft-eligible juniors good luck in their careers. You have paved the way for more success with the Gamecock baseball program. I look forward to next season and another chance at competing for a national title.
