Or’Tre Smith
Wando WR Or’Tre Smith made another visit to USC for Tuesday’s practice. He came up from Charleston with a teammate and got more time with Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp and receivers coach Bryan McClendon. He also checked out the fancy new digs where the players reside.
“I got to see 650 Lincoln for the first time and it’s nice,” he said. “The practices, intense. They look like they can make some noise this year so that’s exciting.”
As for what the coaches had to say to him this time, it was more reaffirmation of their selling points to him throughout the process.
“They were like you have potential here and the opportunity and you size up with other people here and they’re no different from you,” Smith said.
Smith visited North Carolina last Saturday for the first time and that’s been his only other visit thus far. He’s also hearing regularly from Clemson, Georgia and Wake Forest.
Smith has a track meet at Spring Valley Friday, he’s a high jumper, so it’s possible he could stay over and take in USC’s spring game Saturday.
Clemson recruiter Jeff Scott talked with Smith Monday and reinforced the Tigers’ opinion that they would love to have him as well.
“He was just saying they want me up there priority wise and they think I fit their mold at Clemson,” he said adding he has no idea when he will make a return trip to Clemson.
Smith said he might have a top five by the end of the school year and would like to take some official visits before deciding around the middle of his senior season. He does not claim any favorites at this point.
