Read P&C article about President. Found last sentence of 3rd paragraph interesting about BOT changed. They are trying to cut it in half. Hope it happens and they keep the good ones.

Interesting. To me the size of the BOT is less important than getting the $%^& governor off of it as a voting member. Ex officio? Yes. Continue to appoint BOT members? Yes. But the strong-arming of the university to shoehorn Caslen into place can't be allowed to happen again, regardless of who is governor, IMO.

I tend to believe that had to have been something serious that was going on that caused McMaster to step in like that with Caslen, but that's JMO.

Public universities are government entities.  All of the sports coaches are state employees, and receive state benefits.  Education is not their main function, money is.  If I say much more, it will get political, but as long as they are a state run entity, there will be grift and malfeasance running rampant, regardless of who sits in the governor's office.

Agreed. While I don't have any way of knowing what this like everywhere, in Washington state the Gov doesn't sit as a voting member of public university BOTs, but he does appoint members. Which IMO is appropriate.
