6-2 guard LaShay Page said Tuesday he has been approved to play this season at USC and will arrive on campus Wednesday afternoon. "Yeah, I'm all set to go," Page said in a text message. "Everything went through. I feel relieved and ready to work." Page had to appeal to the SEC for a waiver from their rule against one year transfers except for those with extenuating circumstances. In this case Page, a native of Latta, appealed on family reasons...his mother died earlier this year and he has a young child living in Marion. Page will arrive at USC Wednesday. USC spokesman Steve Fink said Tuesday afternoon that while the school is hopeful of approval, his understanding was the issue was still under review. Page is transferring from Southern Miss where he was a starting guard lat season. He will have a chance to start right away for the talent starved Gamecocks. Page averaged nearly 12 points per game last season and had one of his best games in the NCAA Tournament against Kansas State, then coached by current Gamecock coach Frank Martin. USC is still waiting on news regarding the freshman eligibility status of guards Thaddeus Hall and Tariq Phillip.
