The statue of Joe Paterno will always represent a symbol of what is WRONG with bigtime college athletics. The Joe Paterno statue represent a man that was drunk (intoxicated) off of college football and his own press clippings (coaching legacy) and a person that was asleep at the wheel while a child predator associated with the PSU football program used PSU's athletic football facilities (showers) as a place to privately rape and abuse little kids repeatedly for YEARS.
The statue of Joe Paterno definitely need to be removed because Joe Paterno intentionally plotted to coverup the fact that little innocent kids were being raped and abused by his friend Jerry Sandusky for YEARS to protect the PSU football program and his own legacy.
The statue represent a man that put PSU football, his own coaching football legacy, and his NCAA career win total record ahead of children's safety.
Some people wanted Joe Paterno to retire from coaching a long time ago and Joe Paterno knew back in 1998 and in 2001 that if a major scandal like this would have came out publicly back then that the pressure for him to retire would have been even greater and FSU's coach Bobby Bowden would have became the all-time winningest coach. Joe Paterno's EGO clouded his judgement and destroyed his own legacy forever.
There are reports that if Joe Paterno was still alive, he might would be charged with child endangerment, perjury, and other negative things. A person who put himself (coaching legacy) ahead of the safety of children shouldn't have a statue on a college campus.
The NCAA should give Penn St the death penalty and PSU's current football players should be allowed to transfer to other schools and they should be eligible to play immediately and the current PSU football coaches should still get paid. Penn St shouldn't play football this season.
The NCAA should also remove Joe Paterno wins going back to 1998. Joe Paterno shouldn't be the NCAA all-time winningest college football coach.
"Winning is not a sometime thing: it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do the right thing once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing." - Vince Lombardi (NFL Hall of Fame Coach)
