Patrick Iriel

No details from what I can find on why.  The state reported it was "after several meetings with Frank Martin this week".  Not sure what to read into this.

He has withdrawn from school entirely.  That would say to me that he's 1.) got some issues that he needs to deal with (himself, family, friends), 2.) has found that he needs to move away from the Columbia area, and will resurface at another school, elsewhere in the not-too-distant future or 3.) found that his passion for the game is not there any longer.

I am, of course reading between the lines (nothing concrete here... just surmising), with these thoughts.  But you don't typically drop out of school if you change your mind about basketball/sports.  Since he's a Columbia native, he could live at home and take classes and not spend a fortune doing so, even without basketball scholarship.  Frank has been pretty good about working with kids who need some time away from things to work out their own issues.  I'm guessing that it's #2, but again... who knows for sure.

He may have been allergic to working on his shots and playing the aggressive defense that Frank demands.   :animated-smileys-sport-225:

It's better to find that out sooner than later if that was the case.

Wish him the best wherever he goes just the same.

If he wanted to transfer and play at another school, I would have guessed he would finish out this semester in school and transfer for spring semester.   His quitting the team AND withdrawing from school suggests to me that he 1. does not want to be in college, 2.  has lost his enthusiasm for basketball, or 3. a combination of 1 and 2.  If he transfers to another school to play basketball, then my guess will have been wrong.
