Pick one area you want to see improvement from this week, and why

Mine would be the OL. They were lackluster last week IMO, and this week's competition is much more stout.

I would pick OL as well.  For as good as our RBs are, we did a poor job of run blocking.  Pass blocking was OK, but we did not really open up many holes for the RBs. Gotta me more aggressive and get some push.  ECU will be much better than EKU.

I agree OL wasn't impressive vs a very subpar opponent.  They did struggle to push and create space, especially in the first half.

Penalties are certainly a great answer, but if I could pick one thing to vastly improve, it would be our deep threat. No matter how good our TE's and RB's are with the ball in their hands this season, our offense will not have success against quality defenses if they don't have to respect us over the top. All a defense will have to do is load the box and press our WR's on the outside. If we can connect on some deep bombs early against ECU, that would really help stretch the defensive formation and allow our offense to work. A lot of pressure for Jalen Brooks to have a good game, if you ask me. He is our decisive deep threat who has underperformed early up to this point.

All y'all picked the top 3 choices I have. I would say overall my #1 would be penalties - this would bring in the OL performance into their group. Cut out the false starts and holding calls, but overall penalties seem to be Coach Beamer's answer as well. Despite how well we won the game last week, Beamer seemed upset at the overall execution of the team, and the miscues and errors (penalties).

After that, I also agree I want to see more explosive plays from our offense, particularly our passing game. We are going to need to start working on improving that before the SEC slate gets underway, as I can see the opposing SEC defenses key on stopping our run game, and seeing how well we can respond through the air. If we cannot get the passing game going in those situations, we'll get slaughtered......

Less penalties why? They cost the Gamecocks 14 point last week will need those points to beat ECU.

Not just Oline, but the entire run-blocking scheme. Blocking on the outside was just not there, especially early on. It's like we failed to account for their linebackers. Was happy to see we adjusted later on, but they did a good job shutting Marshawn down for a while. You know the ECU defensive coaches saw it too.

It is really odd that each of the last few years we've said the O-line should be the strength only to be let down.  I think there is some talent and depth there and hope this staff can coach them up for the rest of the season.  From what I saw Saturday we better get it fixed quickly or GA is going to take us to the woodshed on the line.

Find it interesting and alarming that Dylan Wonnum in his post-game talked about improving foot work.  Not just himself but the entire line.   He's a senior right.  Never played o-line and certainly not an o-line coach but this seems pretty basic.  He also mentioned penalties which is the mental side.  Hopefully coach Adkins can get this corrected quickly if it's a big problem.  Then it's a matter of lining up correctly, doing what you've been coached to do and giving it your all.

+1 on the areas previously mentioned.

The media guys said Shane told them he wanted us to look like a well-coached team, then we get the two Special Teams penalties on the same return while they are interviewing Frank Beamer about how proud he is of his son.  LOL

So I tend to think penalties will be covered by the staff this week.

The only thing I would add to the list would be to be wary of the defense reverting back to being to conservative as we face tougher opponents in the meat of the schedule.  I would think Clayton White and his staff have already discussed that among themselves before we played Eastern Illinois and as the season goes forward.
