Predicting the final commitments for South Carolina’s 2018 recruiting class

February 05, 2018

The 2018 South Carolina recruiting class is waiting on the final word from two defensive linemen, 4-star tackle Rick Sandidge and 3-star end John Mincey.

Sandidge, who now plans to announce his decision at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, has three finalists. Mincey is also set for a Signing Day reveal, but only one other program is jockeying for a signing National Letter-of-Intent.

4-star DT Rick Sandidge (Concord, N.C.) – Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Predictions: Sandidge will sign with the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-5, 288-pound prospect is listed by the 247Sports composite as the No. 14 defensive tackle in the Class of 2018.

All 26 the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Sandidge are for the Gamecocks.

3-star DE John Mincey (Homerville, Ga.) – South Carolina and Tennessee. Predictions: Mincey will sign with the Gamecocks.

The 6-4, 255-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 38 strongside defensive end in the country. Only two of the 15 Crystal Ball predictions for Mincey are for another program, and Georgia, which has two picks for him, isn’t even in the mix.

If they end up at South Carolina, Sandidge and Mincey will join a defensive line haul that includes four other prospects, all of whom signed in December: 4-star end Kingsley Enagbare (Atlanta, Ga.), 3-star junior college end Jabari Ellis (Georgia Military), 3-star end Tyreek Johnson (Sumter, S.C.) and Jesus Gibbs (Dumfries, Va.), who’s classified as a 3-star offensive tackle.
