Preseason practice continues for the three-time defending SEC Champions and there is no reason why USC won't be the preseason pick when those ballots are tabulated later this month.

“We’ve got a really good team, but we’ve got to work through some things,” said Staley.

“It is a different feel in the gym. They’re a pretty unselfish group right now, really good team chemistry. We’ve got a little ways to go from a defensive standpoint, but they’re eager to learn.”

USC may have lost All-American guard Tiffany Mitchell along with experienced guards in Khadijah Sessions and Asia Dozier, but a strong nucleus returns in Heathwood Hall graduate A’ja Wilson - the reigning SEC Player and Defensive Player of the Year. Two-time All-SEC selection Alaina Coates from Dutch Fork High School is also back as she looks to once again, be a force in the paint.

Two high-profile newcomers are eligible to play after earning All-ACC honors a year ago before transferring.

Kaela Davis comes to USC from Georgia Tech, while Allisha Gray was a scoring machine for North Carolina. Each player, who sat out last season, reached the 1,000 point mark in their two years in the ACC.
