University of South Carolina 2019 Preseason Football Information

Student-athletes will officially report for fall camp on Thursday, August 1. The first practice will be Friday, August 2. The team will conduct its practices at either the practice fields, behind the Long Family Football Facility located at the west end of Gamecock Park, in the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility or at Williams-Brice Stadium. Most practices will last approximately two hours.

  •
  • Media Day is set for Thursday, August 1, from 3-5 pm. Head coach Will Muschamp will hold a press conference beginning at 3 pm in the defensive team/media room, located on the second floor of the Long Family Football Facility. Media should park on the north end of the Long Family Football Facility, enter through the media door in the middle of the north end of the facility, and take the elevator to reach the defensive team/media room. Requested and approved student-athletes will be available from 4-5 pm in the Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility. No true freshmen or assistant coaches will be made available on media day.
  •
  • Media members will be allowed to observe and photograph (still and/or video) the team stretching period along with the first three periods of practice on August 2, 6, 9, 14 and 15. No live streaming is allowed. Those media members attending the practice should congregate by the doors on the east end of the Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility and will be escorted in when the flex period begins.
  •
  • Colonial Life Fan Appreciation Day is set for Saturday, August 10, at the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility. The event will run from 3-4:30 pm. This is an opportunity for our fans to engage with the student-athletes and not considered a "media opportunity" to interview the student-athletes or coaches.
  •
  • Photo Day is scheduled for Friday, August 16, with team, group and individual photos taking place on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium from 7-8 pm. No interviews will be allowed during this time.
  •
  • No practices will be open to the public unless later determined otherwise by Coach Muschamp.
  •
  • Coach Muschamp will hold his weekly press conference on Tuesdays during the season in the defensive team/media room, located on the second floor of the Long Family Football Facility, beginning at 12:30 pm. The first weekly press conference will be held on Tuesday, August 27. There will be no press conference during the two off weeks. In-season player interviews will also be conducted on Tuesdays following the morning practice at the same location.
  •
  • Coach Muschamp will take part in "Carolina Calls" with Todd Ellis on Thursdays during the season from Wild Wing Café in the Vista. The radio call-in show runs from 7-8 pm. The first show is scheduled for August 22. The second show, slated for August 29, will be the kickoff party with cheerleaders, Cocky and the band.
  •
  • The Will Muschamp Television Show airs at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 pm on Sundays on Fox Sports Southeast and at various times on local affiliates throughout the Palmetto State beginning August 25. Please check local listings for your area.

Players report next Thursday. First practice is in 11 days (next Friday). Love the kickoff of fall camp. Time to separate the men from the boys and find out who REALLY wants to play.

I wish they would ditch the call in show. I would bet the coaches would rather not do it also....LOL

I wish someone would ask coach what his first three plays against UNC will be. Oh, wait, they already ask stuff like that.

I really think they should screen some of the calls better.

But sometimes I also enjoy hearing the coaches insight on some of the good questions.

My question would be...

How hard is it to make the players concentrate on just this one game and forget the rest of that schedule?

But I work evenings now so I don't even get to hear the show.

I hate to say it, but if Joyner is good enough, which he may be, red-shirt Hilinski and save that extra year of eligibility. Hilinski can fight for the starting job next year.

That is my thought too. I know a lot of people are clamoring to see Hilinski, but we need to be patient.

Of course it makes me wonder just what the coaches are looking for at QB. Right now we have Bentley and Joyner, who seem to be cut from two different cloths. Scrambler vs. Pocket Passer. Then we have Hilinski and Doty who look to present much of the same dilemma in the future.

The good thing is, with the new NCAA rules, we can give Hilinski 4 games to play in throughout the season (not just the first 4 scheduled), and still red-shirt him. I imagine he'll have the best chance to appear in games versus UNC, Charleston Southern, Vanderbilt, and Appalachian State...

I'm soooo ready for the new season
