Taisun Phommachanh
One of the top quarterback prospects in the country was in the Palmetto State this week for a close up look at USC. QB Taisun Phommachanh (6-4 205) of Avon, CT is considered a dual threat as a passer and runner and his skills are coveted highly. Include the Gamecocks and Tigers among those in hot pursuit.
Phommachanh stopped first at USC on Thursday. He got the chance to see the Gamecocks practice in the morning before they broke for their spring vacation.
“The visit went great,” Phommachanh said. “Me and my family definitely enjoyed ourselves. The part that stood out the most was being in the atmosphere of the practice and the school.”
USC had offered Phommachanh before his visit.
“It definitely means a lot because they don’t offer to many quarterbacks,” he said. “They offer guys with high character. I loved the way they preach family and it shows big when I walked around their campus. I think I fit perfectly in their system. They love guys that can use their legs, also.”
Last season Phommachanh passed for 2253 yards, 25 touchdowns and 1 interception and rushed for 663 yards and 17 touchdowns.
His next visit is Florida on March 20th. Some of his other offers are Purdue, Illinois, Florida State, Penn State, TCU, Iowa, Virginia and Ole Miss.
“No favorites right now,” he said. ‘I’ve got to visit more schools then I can really compare. I’m trying to have a decision by summer.”
