QB target Tyler Shough lands Elite 11 finals invite
May 16, 2017
Three-star quarterback Tyler Shough joined Dakereon Joyner as the second South Carolina quarterback target to land an invite to the Elite 11 finals.
Shough (Chandler, Ariz.) and Joyner (North Charleston, S.C.) were invited on Monday.
Over the weekend, Michigan hosted Shough for his first visit to Ann Arbor. Though the Wolverines are perceived to be his leader, the trip did not result in a commitment, at least not yet.
The 3-star prospect from Hamilton High School is considering a number of other schools, including Georgia and Florida State, and it remains to be seen if visits will be made to either one.
After his first visit to South Carolina, Shough listed South Carolina as a co-leader with Indiana, but that was before his stock turned bullish.
Offers from the Dawgs, Noles and Wolverines soon followed. Shough, according to the 247Sports composite, is ranked as the No. 20 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018.
The Elite 11 finals are held June 2-4 in Los Angeles. The top 11 performers from the camp will then receive an invite to The Opening finals in Beaverton, Ore.
Former South Carolina quarterback Brandon McIlwain, had a top 11 showing during the 2015 camp, but he transferred during spring practice. Another former Gamecock quarterback, Stephen Garcia, was named to the Elite 11 Class of 2006.
