USC opens spring football practice Tuesday afternoon and one of the onlookers will be QB Jelani Woods 6'6" 230lbs of Ellenwood, GA.  He and his father drove in from Georgia Tuesday morning to spend the day on an unofficial visit. Woods is one of the quarterbacks Will Muschamp has offered for the 2017 class and there is strong interest both ways.

“They offered him and he likes it a lot, he’s real interested in them,” said Cedar Grove High School coach Jermaine Smith who is a Darlington native.  “I’ve taken him there before.  They say he can make all the throws and he make the decisions.  They like him.  I think he’d be a good fit for them.”

Last season Woods passed for 2400 yards and 28 touchdowns and rushed for 600 yards and 9 scores.

“He understands the game and is very smart,” his coach said.  “He’s a great decision maker.  We run the spread with the zone read.  He has great arm strength and is very athletic for his size.”

Woods also has offers from Michigan, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Georgia Southern, FAU, Louisville, South Florida and South Alabama.
