- I am really happy to see Qua Gilchrist making a significant contribution. Kid was a bigtime RB at Abbeville and he filled up many Friday night highlight shows on the late local news. We wasted him at LB.

- Cory Robinson is not that big of a surprise to me. I am privy to some behind the scenes stuff with him, and once he overcame a health issue and some other issues, I was told that he would be a dominant player, either at NG or LT.

-Our OL has NEVER been in better shape for the future than it is right now. Robinson, Matulis, Shell, Cann, Gibson, Stadnik. Harris, Waldrop, Zandi, Sport, etc...plus we have another excellent class coming in. Elliott deserves at ton of credit here.

-Will the smurfs be enough? Ace, Bruce and Byrd are our 3 leading WR's. Will they be able to handle the press man coverage coming from UGA, LSU and UF? I am concerned. Still don't understand why DL Moore plays so much. Shaq Roland needs to be out there more.

- Our TE's are something else. I am waiting to see the "Free Jerell Adams" sign at W-B. Buster was a major steal two years ago. I would think about playing him some at wide receiver.

- I really think Mike Davis is special. You can see it every time he touches the ball. His vision, ability to follow blockers, his elusiveness. He is s STUD. I get the loyalty to Kenny Miles, but he has poor vision and does not see the holes. I wish Davis would get more reps, especially since Miles fumbled in the red zone last week.

Defensively, we are pretty damn good. Our front has been sensational. Clowney is so improved. Lawing has taught Clowney two moves- the shoulder dip on the speed rush. Clowney does it so well. That is John Abraham's signature move. Clowney gets his shoulder under the OT and gets by him in a hurry. The inside spin move is lethal after Clwoney has gone outside several times.

- I'm so happy for Jerideau and Chaz Sutton. Both are making an impact. Devin Taylor and Quarles are studs that get very little pub due to Clowney. Aldrick Fordham has looked very good as well.

- Our LB's are much improved over last season. Wilson and Bowens have been excellent. So glad that DaMarrio Jeffery finally getting a fair shake at ONE position. I think he was really treated unfairly having to move back and forth between positions and now has found a home at MLB. He looks like a natural. Quin Smith had a big game at against Mizzou.

- Bad news is all of these guys are seniors. We will be VERY young at LB next season.

- I have been pleasantly surprised with the secondary play. LeGree has really shored up that CB spot. TJ Gurley is going to be hard to keep off the field. He reminds me a lot of Ahmad Black, an undersized safety that played a lot of football for the Florida Gators.

-DJ has to play a little more under control. I hope that starts this weekend.

- Our kicking game is improving week by week. Yates is kicking off well. When you have a dominant defense, you want the opposition to have to go the length of the field EVERY time. Touch backs are critical.

- Hull is getting a little better and more consistent. Hopefully this continues, but our kicking game worries me since the UGA, LSU and UF games could come down to a FG and that field position in these games will be crucial.

- The schedule is brutal in October. we play 3 legit top 10 teams, 2 of them that are in the top 5. SEC conspiracy? UGA's schedule by comparison is weaker than a Steve Cook retort. j/k.

- November looks easier than earlier because Arkansas should have fully melted down by that point. Clemson has excellent speed, but very deficient on defense and their OL will be overwhelmed by our DL.

10-2 if we stay healthy, maybe 11-1 if the football gods shine on the Gamecocks. 9-3 if we run into injuries. As long as we get that 10th in a bowl game, it will be a great season.

SOS has truly elevated our program to the point of bordering on elite status. I listen to ESPN radio and Finebaum and we are now always mentioned with the elite programs in the SEC. Beating UGA is crucial. Win that game and we are a legit BCS Bowl candidate for the remainder of the season.

Go Cocks.

- Gerald Dixon, Jr. has been excellent as the 3rd DT
