Ray Tanner’s latest on Muschamp still strongly feels he will get the job done

Nov. 28, 2019

Ray Tanner has a simple goal for his football coach: build a team that can contend and challenge for SEC East titles, SEC titles and all else that comes with it. The Gamecocks are mired in a 4-7 season, he still strongly feels coach Will Muschamp is the man to get that done.

Tanner said on his monthly radio appearance on 107.5 FM. “I believe strongly that our fan base and our biggest supporters are going to be very happy, at some point, it’s not today, because nobody wants to have four wins as we sit here. But I believe strongly in what we’re doing. And he is our football coach, and I expect him to be our football coach for a long, long time,

Asked Wednesday about what he liked about the job Muschamp has done, the AD pointed to his work ethic and energy in the building. The term Tanner came back to several times was “investment,” treating football as a long-term process.

Tanner said. “We’re certainly not happy with where we are today record-wise. Coach Muschamp or anybody else affiliated with football, but I personally believe in the investment that is being made.”

Note here Tanner is dug in with Muschamp he isn't going anywhere but here to stay. Maybe a asst. coach change but really doubt that as well. You can reflect back on this when everyone was screaming for Matins head, he dug in there too.  So I will leave it at that. Enjoy your Turkey and day off.

As the basketball team currently stands with a 4-3 record and 2 of those losses are to mighty basketball powers Boston University and Northern Iowa coupled with barely escaping against Gardner-Webb I don't see where that helps Tanner's position.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for three 11 win seasons where I got to see some very good Gamecock football.

Don't forget the Joe Morrison years....back in the mid 80s....thirty something years ago.

Thankful to George Washington Rogers our own Heisman Trophy  winner(1980) Now something even the Taters have not done have one of these.

It makes me nauseous to agree with your statement...but I'm starting to lose faith in Tanner too...I really hope I'm proven wrong.

Yeah I bought into the preseason hype for both football and basketball (again) only to be kicked in the nuts (again) for both.  I can't even bring myself to watch the game tomorrow.  Why should I, the outcome is already known.  smh

While I can't say that I blame you...I'll be watching the game hoping for a miracle and hope that we can at least stay competitive and at least get in a handful of good plays.

We aren’t even a shitty SEC team...we are just shitty...run of the mill sun belt team who might occasionally beat a big boy team...otherwise we just like any other mid major with an overpaid coach who reminds me of the fonz character in The Waterboy...lost as hell and his play card looks like a map he can’t read

Today was a total embarrassment in every aspect!  For starters, the place was packed with orange in the parking areas.  Then when I get in the stadium, it seemed like half of it was colored orange.  Play calling was for shit, officiating was for shit and so was the effort.  I get season tickets yearly and pay a pretty good bit for it all but I have always enjoyed hanging out with the family and friends and it all seemed worth it...……….. until this year.  I have been through many mean seasons but something about this one seems worse.  Even when we were winless years ago, we at least seemed to have heart and put forth effort.  Maybe I will feel better in  time and my whole mindset will change but I have a crappy feeling that it isn't, and I hate that.

This team was not even worth watching this year.  Today was the finale of a shitty season.  This coaching staff is one of the worst in the country IMO.  We don't compete in many games, get out coached and our effort is often lacking.  We also play undisciplined football all too often.  I don't see much to get excited about for the future.  CWM is not the answer and our assistants are not good.  If we keep CWM, we need to change assistants.  If not, more of the same should be expected.

Did not watch.  Spent lunch with my daughterling from BC before she flies back.  Screw Ray and Muschump.
