Before reading the article. Well written and comes to the aid of AD Tanner. Only fair we here both sides pro or con. Maybe help as all have a better understanding of the man in charge of all Carolina athletics. House divided will not stand together in time of need. We see a lot divide today in our own country. I know I am not happy with the results and the article has given me a better understanding of our battle here to be the best in the college sports world. I feel we all agree and want that outcome. I do not agree for the most part but I respect Whittle standing his ground here.
A rising tide lifts all boats and for the South Carolina athletics department, Ray Tanner was that rising tide when he was hired by the university on June 14, 1996.
Tanner was just a baseball coach at the time, coming from his alma mater, N.C. State, where he held the same position along with duties as an associate athletics director. He took over a Gamecocks baseball program that was once mighty, but gone off the rails in the previous seasons. He began the rebuild of that program and it became a national powerhouse once again.
