USC coach Shane Beamer, a former walk-on himself, puts a high priority on players he invites to join his program as a preferred walk-on. He has seen many rags to riches stories in his career where the low-rated, overlooked prospect blossoms into a high-level college player. In the case of grad-transfer RB Dante Miller, the invite was a no-brainer.
Miller brings years of Ivy League experience at Columbia University to the program, and in fact, led the league in rushing last season. He also brings that one commodity in an athlete that cannot be coached…speed. You either have it or you don’t, and Miller has it.
Miller last week joined us on SportsTalk to discuss his career and his decision to join the Gamecocks for his final season.
