USC landed a commitment from its top running back prospect Friday night when 4 star David Williams 6'1" 195lbs of Philadelphia made his announcement during the Semper-Fidelis All American Bowl in Carson, CA. Williams picked the Gamecocks over Arizona State which he visited officially in September. He also considered Penn State, Ohio State and Miami. "From the beginning of the recruiting process, they've been there strong," Williams said. "They've been to my house.
Coach Spurrier has shown a lot of interest." Williams rushed for over 1800 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, and with Marcus Lattimore and Kenny Miles leaving USC, he'll be looking for an early chance to play. "I think I fit perfect (with the offense)," he said. "I can come in and have an opportunity to play early." Williams is scheduled for his official visit to USC in two weeks. Williams made an unofficial visit to USC in the spring and that put the Gamecocks in the lead position with him. “It's the relationship with the coaching staff. I enjoyed myself on the visit and I can see myself playing there.” Williams is the 20th commitment for the Gamecocks 2013 class.
