4 star RB Derrell Scott 5'10" 190lbs of Havelock, NC has USC and NC State as his top two schools but still gives the Gamecocks a slight lead. Scott has the two very close saying, "I don't really have a favorite but I think South Carolina has a slight lead right now." He denied that distance to home could be a factor when making his decision. "Both of my schools (USC and NC State) are really close to home and both have a lot to offer," he said. "South Carolina is telling me that I'm their number one guy and that if I commit, they won't take another running back. They say I could play early and that my style fits perfectly into their offense. NC State is pretty much telling me the same thing." Scott has plans to make his announcement on October 25th but says that is not set in stone. There is the possibility he could announce prior to his announcement date. His plans were to make it to USC's opener Thursday but decided against it. "I have a game Friday night so there really is no way for me to go," adding, "I do plan on attending several games down there including the Clemson game. I want to get my parents down there so they can see the atmosphere." He will not attend any games this weekend. Ohio State, Florida State and Tennessee are among other schools that continue to court Scott. In his season opener, Scott scored two touchdowns but was unsure of his total yards.
