RB Lovasea Carroll to finally join Gamecocks
SPORTSTALK / January 24, 2022
RB Lovasea Carroll (6-1 195), a native of Warrenton, GA, was the first player to commit to Gamecock for their 2021 class way back in May of 2019 when Will Muschamp was in charge of the Gamecocks. But he later changed course decommitting from the Gamecocks and eventually signing with Georgia. Now, he will fulfill that initial commitment by transferring to South Carolina from Georgia.
Carroll announced Monday his commitment to Shane Beamer. He becomes the seventh scholarship transfer taken by Beamer since the end of last season, and he gives the Gamecocks 31 for the class including signees, transfers that count in the class and one unsigned commitment. The Gamecocks can take two more in the class. Carroll also heard from Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Michigan State and Mississippi State since entering the Portal.
He rushed for over 1400 yards and 19 touchdowns as a sophomore. He transferred to IMG Academy prior to his junior season. A shoulder injury limited his playing time and he rushed for 570 yards and 8 touchdowns. He did average 10 yards per carry. In his senior season he rushed for 464 yards and 7 touchdowns. Carroll also played cornerback in his high school career and Georgia signed him for that position. He appeared in four games this season and recorded three tackles.
