The recruiting process may have just sped up for three-star running back 3 star Mon Denson 5-foot-11, 215-pounder (LaGrange, Ga./LaGrange). After participating in the Gamecock Showcase on Saturday afternoon picked up a South Carolina offer, his third from an SEC school.
“I went on a visit around The Dodie,” Denson said. “At the end, Coach Sands told me he liked me on film and then I showed him today in person at camp, so he wanted to offer me. I was pretty happy. It was my third SEC offer. I really like the place. It’s the first time I’ve been here.”
Composite, said the depth chart and opportunity for early playing time makes the Gamecocks stand out.
He also knows that South Carolina has a half dozen offers out to other running backs and the first to commit gets the spot. He knows there’s a sense of urgency and doesn’t want to be left behind.
“Right now, it’s speeding up the process for me,” Denson said. “I don’t want that spot taken. My decision could come pretty quick. I have to talk things over with my parents.”
While he didn’t call South Carolina an outright leader, he did name a top group of four that also included North Carolina, Arkansas and Wisconsin.
