One of the state’s top 2016 prospects, RB Stephen Davis Jr. of Dutch Fork, suffered a season ending knee injury Friday night
in his team’s win over Dorman. Davis was injured in the first quarter and Silver Foxes’ coach Tom Knott confirmed to Rich Taylor of MidlandsHighSchoolSports.com that Davis suffered a torn ACL and will have surgery in about three weeks.
Davis, the son of former Auburn and NFL star running back Stephen Davis, decommitted from Auburn last month and has been focused on Clemson, USC, Florida State, Auburn and Georgia. He has plans to visit Auburn unofficially this weekend when his father is honored by the school.
Davis Jr. started out the season as a safety but was moved to running back for the second game and responded by rushing for over 200 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. As for college, schools primarily have been recruiting him as a safety or linebacker.
