South Carolina has offered eight running backs already in the 3 star RB Tyrek Tisdale 6'1' 184lbs (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge).
In addition to South Carolina, the three-star tailback holds early offers from Ohio State, Kentucky, Miami, Louisville and a host of others. One school stands out to him in the early going though.
"I would say that South Carolina is my leader right now. They have shown me a lot of love and I really appreciate that,” Tisdale said. “There was a lot of new things around the campus like the new facilities they are building for the 2015 class coming in and then the classes after that. I thought that was very interesting so it was all very good to see."
Tisdale made the seven hour trip up from Orlando, Fla. recently for South Carolina’s Junior Day. The early thought was that the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder favored Kentucky early, but that’s no longer the case.
He’s developed a strong bond with running backs coach Everette Sands, who also happens to be his recruiter of record.
“I talk to Everett Sands and Coach Spurrier Jr. the most," Tisdale said. "They are very good guys to look up to. Coach Spurrier coached my head coach (Alonzo Williams) so they have the same kind of coaching scheme so it is really good knowing the coaching scheme and that the coaches know each other."
Tisdale had the chance to meet former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore while on his trip to Columbia. One thing that stands out to him is how Lattimore was taken care of through his multiple injuries.
“They make sure they are not just looking at just your athletic ability but they are looking out for me in school in case I got hurt and could not play anymore,” Tisdale said. “It is like what they did with Marcus Lattimore, his career is kind of over but they are still working with him and they want him to be something else in life."
Lattimore is currently working with the university but his title, which does not relate to athletics, is still to be determined. He is, however, allowed to help out at events like Junior Day.
“It was very interesting to meet someone who holds the record at the school,” Tisdale said. “The things he went through hurting both his ACL's, that was kind of sad but at the same time he is still working hard to get something else in life."
