Dorian Gerald sets fourth official
Tennessee defensive end commitment Dorian Gerald is set to visit South Carolina in two weekends for the Wofford game. From there, he’s scheduled to hit Tennessee (Nov. 24) and Louisville (Dec. 8).
According to Phil Kornblut of sportstalksc.com, Gerald will take an official visit to Texas A&M, though no date has been set. Gerald is also expecting to use his fifth and final official visit, before exiting College of the Canyons in California.
The 3-star defensive end played high school ball at West Florence in South Carolina.
Prospects in Athens
Four-star linebacker Channing Tindall wasn’t the only highly recruited defender from Columbia, S.C. who was in Sanford Stadium for the South Carolina-Georgia game on Saturday.
Alex Huntley, a 2020 defensive tackle from Hammond School, was also among the prospects hosted by the Dawgs. While in town Saturday, he landed an offer from Georgia, to go along with one from South Carolina.
Class of 2018 4-star defensive tackle Rick Sandidge (Concord, N.C.) was spotted at Sanford Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as well.
Class of 2018 3-star offensive guard Jovaughn Gwyn (Charlotte, N.C.) visited N.C. State.
Official guests for this weekend
South Carolina’s coaches will host a pair of 2018 defensive end targets this weekend: 5-star prospect K.J. Henry and 3-star recruit Jarrett Jackson, who’s committed to Louisville.
Henry, an Under Armour All-American from West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, N.C., has already taken official visits to Clemson, Georgia and Virginia Tech. His fifth will be to Alabama. A decision will be announced on Dec. 20.
Jackson, who’s from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High School, is also planning to take official visits to Pittsburgh and Louisville in December.
Both are mid-year enrollees.
More from K.J. Henry
On Friday, Henry told TheClemsonInsider about the kind of guidance his father, Charlotte running backs coach Keith Henry, offers during the recruiting process.
“Just make sure everybody is honest with me,” Henry said. “Behind the scenes, he can really read coaches, so that’s gone pretty well so far. He’s just making sure I’m not getting cheat or blown over and everybody is genuine to me.”
As for the recruiting process, that hasn’t burn him out, like it can with other highly recruited 5-star prospects.
“It’s an opportunity that I never take for granted,” Henry said. “I see how people get tired of it, definitely. … I take this opportunity head-on and really appreciate it.”
Houston offer out
On Saturday, 2020 running back Zachary Evans tweeted that he picked up an offer from South Carolina. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect from North Shore High School is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 running back in his class.
Alabama, LSU and Ohio State have also offered Evans, who visited Tuscaloosa this weekend.
