Recruiting notes for 06/03/13
Woodruff WR Blake Bone is now sitting on ten offers and has put together a top five list. Bone said his five favorites, in no order, are USC, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Louisville with no leader. His other offers are Clemson, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Marshall. Bone said he spoke recently with USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. “He was telling me they need a big body in the receiving corps,” Bone said. “They are trying to sign a big guy like me.” Bone said he won’t participate in any camps this summer but he’ll visit several schools including USC, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, North Carolina and Ole Miss. He’s looking at spending one of his official visits with Nebraska. Bone would like to make his decision by the end of his season. Last season Bone had 65 catches for 1150 yards and 14 touchdowns.
DL Peyton Newell of Hawatha, KS announced a final six Saturday night from a list of over 30 offers. USC is in the group along with Southern Cal, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Georgia. Newell will make a summer time visit to USC. He plans to announce his decision August 30th.
Junior WR George Campbell of Tarpon Springs, FL Sunday released a top ten of Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Central Florida and Vanderbilt. He had 760 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns last season. He also had 56 tackles.
Junior LB Sherrod Pittman of Jacksonville put out a top 11 on Twitter Sunday afternoon. On the list are USC, Clemson, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Miami, Georgia Tech, Central Florida, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Florida State. Pittman added that USC, Florida and Louisville will be in his top five.
DB Quincy Wilson of Fort Lauderdale released his top 12 list Saturday night and USC is on the list. Also in his final dozen are UCLA, Southern Cal, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, NC State, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Louisville and Vanderbilt. Wilson said there is no order to his list. He cut his list from more than 40 offers.
DL Andrew Brown of Chesapeake, VA visited Virginia Tech Saturday and in an interview with HokieHaven.com he disclosed the five schools he plans to visit officially this fall. They are Clemson, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Florida and Florida State. Brown added that those aren’t necessarily his final five schools, just the ones he wants to visit officially. He said schools like Alabama, Virginia and North Carolina remain under consideration. Brown did not name a favorite.
Clemson Monday became the first of the in-state programs to offer DE Rasool Clemmons of South Aiken. Florida State also offered him on Monday according to his coach. Clemmons also has an offer from Virginia. He plans to visit Clemson next Thursday and will be at USC for a 7-on-7 camp. He’s also going to Florida State in July. Clemmons is 6-6, 190 and has played just one year of football.
USC and Clemson have now offered OL Nolan Kelleher of Wando. He plans to visit Clemson later this month.
DB DJ Smith of Marietta, GA will visit USC Saturday. He also plans to visit Clemson this month. He visited USC last summer and was at Clemson for a junior day earlier this year.
