Recruiting Notes For April 17, 2017: Elmore sets 3rd visit; In-state athlete to visit USC Monday; Gilmore Jr. getting more attention

University of Minnesota graduate transfer DE Gaelin Elmore made his third official visit over the weekend to the University of Houston.  He also has visited USC and Arizona.  “It was good. Houston’s a great city. I still don’t have a list and probably won’t.  I am getting closer to my decision I believe.  However, I’m  visiting ECU this weekend.”  He said what he liked about Houston was “the opportunity and the coaches.”   Elmore said he’s missed calls from USC coaches the past couple of days.  Barring another visit after this weekend, Elmore said he could have his decision within a week or two after seeing the Pirates.   He’s not naming a favorite at this point.

ATH RJ Roderick (6-1 205) of Cane Bay will visit USC Monday.  He plays quarterback but some schools just seem him as an athlete.  He has offers from Wofford, Army, Citadel, Air Force, SC State, Virginia and East Carolina. “Position at the college level does not matter, I will play where my coaches think I fit best and and contribute the most to their program.”  Roderick said USC, Virginia and East Carolina stand out the most to him right now.  “I’ve been speaking with Coach T-Rob ever since I attended their spring game.  He’s a  great guy and an even better coach. I’m being recruited as a DB.  In addition to visiting them Monday, they will be coming during spring practice to evaluate me further.”  Last season Roderick rushed for 1778 yards and 23 touchdowns and passed for 613 yards and 5 touchdowns.  He also plays safety.

The interest in South Pointe DB Stephen Gilmore Jr. continues to grow.  He was offered by Louisville last week and Saturday he visited Georgia.  He also holds offers from USC, Georgia, East Carolina and Duke.  He visited USC for the spring game.  “They tell me how they want their players to be like family and they want me to get down there and see the atmosphere in their program.  I talk to Coach T-Rob a lot and he just talks to me personally.”  Gilmore plays receiver and corner and he said the Gamecocks like him as a defensive back.  He does not have a favorite and plans to make his decision on his birthday September 17th.

USC QB target Joe Milton of Orlando was offered by LSU.

USC target RB Master Teague III of Murfreesboro, TN visited Georgia Friday and Saturday.

Clemson and USC target DL Darnell Jefferies of Covington, GA visited Florida State.

DE Jamarcus Chatman of Rome, GA, who picked up a USC offer last week, was at Miami Saturday.

USC quarterback target Tyler Shough of Chandler, AZ visited Missouri Saturday.
