Recruiting Notes For April 29th: Updates on Mykelle McDaniel, Cameron Bent & Stephen Guidry; ND offers two in SC
Uncommitted 2016 DE Mykelle McDaniel of Loganville, GA continues to hear from USC, Georgia and Texas A&M as he waits for his academic status to be determined according to Grayson High assistant coach Kenyatta Watson. Watson said he talked with USC linebacker coach Coleman Hutzler Wednesday night. He said McDaniel is awaiting the result of a test he took related to his high school graduation.
Bluffton ATH Cameron Bent visited Temple earlier this month and enjoyed the visit, especially the big city setting for the school. Temple is recruiting him as a receiver. Bent also attended USC’s spring game earlier this month. While there he talked with Will Muschamp along with Bryan McClendon, Pat Washington and Hutzler. He plans to camp at USC this summer. Bent said the coaches plan to see him this spring though he can’t practice because he’s recovering from a torn ACL. He said he will be able to run the forty. Bent said there was a time he was considering making a commitment to USC but he said now he wants to keep his options open. USC likes as a receiver. Georgia Tech also is recruiting him but as a quarterback. Tech has not yet offered. Bent visited Clemson in March and recruiter Tony Elliott remains in touch and is going to see him this spring. He’d like to make his decision this summer.
USC commitment WR Stephen Guidry of Hinds JC, MS has already completed his spring practice and said he had a great practice. “My coaches said they like how I’ve become a leader. No DB can watch me. I had a great spring.” Guidry said he’s still solid with his commitment (85%) and communicates daily with recruiter Bryan McClendon. He said he’s also hearing from Mississippi State, Arizona State, Alabama, Auburn and Louisville. He has offers from Arizona State and Mississippi State. Guidry said he’s not sure if he’ll take any other visits. He said Mississippi State is trying the hardest to turn him.
Notre Dame Thursday offered Wando WR OrTre Smith and Pendleton DE Brad Johnson.
Wren QB Jay Urich was offered Thursday by Southern Miss.
USC commitment OL Eric Douglas said he will attend USC’s prospect cookout Saturday and will be joined by teammates OL TJ Moore, who has been favoring the Gamecocks, and WR Ryan Jones, who is committed to North Carolina.
