Recruiting Notes For June 16th
QB Dakereon Joyner of Fort Dorchester announces his college decision Sunday afternoon. USC is expected to be the choice over NC State. Thursday the Gamecocks saw another of their top quarterback targets, Tyler Shough of Chandler, AZ, commit to North Carolina. “They just checked everything off that I was looking for on my list, including education, relationship with coach, and opportunity to compete. Just felt like the right fit for me.” Other potential quarterback targets remaining for USC at this point include Cordel Littlejohn of Roswell, GA and Carter Bradley of Jacksonville.
USC also missed on another top target Thursday when TE Gavin Schoenwald of Brentwood, TN announced a commitment to Vanderbilt. “This place is special,” Schoenwald wrote on Twitter. “The degree, the coaching staff, the city and the SEC are all the best of the best.” Schoenwald was scheduled to visit USC Saturday.
USC offered 2019 OL Howard Allen (6-5 2o8) of Baldwin, FL. The Gamecocks are his first SEC offer. “I felt extremely blessed to receive my first SEC offer from them but I was most thankful for another opportunity to play the game I love at that level. I think what they liked most about me was my athleticism and my ability to move well for my size and frame.” Allen also has offers from Wake Forest, Southern Florida and Southern Miss. He said Florida and Georgia are his two favorites at this point.
Neither Clemson nor USC made the top 6 with DL Alim McNeill of Raleigh. He said he’s focused on North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech, Penn State, NC State and Florida State.
USC offered 2019 WR Ramel Keyton of Marietta, GA.
USC offered 2020 DE Reggie Grimes II of Mount Juliet, TN. He also picked up an offer from Tennessee.
2020 QB JW Hertzberg of Southside Christian was at Clemson for camp earlier this week.
USC target WR Josh Vann of Tucker, GA visited Alabama Thursday.
USC target DL Rick Sandidge of Concord, NC visited Michigan Thursday.
