08/17/13
WR Terry Googer (6-4 210) of Atlanta Friday committed to USC. Googer made the announcement during a ceremony at his school. He picked the Gamecocks over North Carolina, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Miami. “It was the perfect fit for me, location wise and academic wise and they are headed in the right place,” Googer said at his announcement. “I knew where I needed to be so why keep putting it off. I wanted to focus on my senior season and I wanted to end it the right way.” Googer made several visits to USC and developed a strong relationship with recruiter Lorenzo Ward. “It feels good,” Googer said about joining the Gamecocks. “I’m ready to get down there and make some plays.” Googer plays quarterback for his high school and last season passed for 1700 yards and rushed for 900 yards. He’s the 13th commitment for USC’s 2014 class.

Class of 2015 QB Torrance Gibson (6-4 200) of Plantation, FL has received several early offers to include Clemson. Though he has not had a chance to speak with the coaches much, Gibson is showing some interest in the Tigers. “They can’t really talk to me since I’m technically still a sophomore,” he said. “I do like their offense and what I’ve seen of their campus online.” Gibson has not visited the Upstate but plans to do so in the future. His other offers are from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, West Virginia, South Florida, Boston College and Nebraska. “I’m a dual-threat quarterback so I feel like I can fit into any type of offense,” said Gibson. “I’m looking for a school with good academics. That’s first and foremost. Then I’ll look at the style of offense they play and see if I fit well with their coaching staff.” Gibson only attended a camp at Miami this summer so does not have any favorites. “I haven’t really seen any schools so I don’t really know who I like,” he said.
Rising junior DB Minkah Fitzpatrick (6-0 185) of Jersey City, NJ took a visit to USC this summer to attend a camp. USC is among his early offers and Fitzpatrick returned to New Jersey impressed with the Gamecocks. “I really liked the campus there,” he said. “The Horseshoe was really pretty. It’s not too big of a city and the campus is really nice. It’s one of the best visits I’ve been on.” USC likes his size and are showing a lot of interest. “I’m pretty long for my position,” said Fitzpatrick. “While I was down there they told me they like that about me.” His other offers include Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Connecticut, Rutgers, Boston College, Stanford, Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Syracuse. Fitzpatrick took visits to Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Virginia and Boston College among others. He has expressed interest in the Gamecocks. “I want to get back down there for a game this year,” he added. LSU, Ohio State and Penn State are other home games he would like to attend. He does not have any favorites.
LB Marcus Moody of Bamberg-Ehrhardt has committed to Presbyterian. Last season he had 118 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 interceptions and caused 10 fumbles. He was named all region and all state last season.
