USC commitment DL Abu Lamin of Fort Scott JC, KS will take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend according to GoVols247. Lamin had said last month he likely would make his final official visit to Tennessee though he’s maintained a strong commitment to USC. He has also taken official visits to USC, Florida, Nebraska and Arkansas. He committed to USC in July.
OL Zack Bailey of Summerville has been to Clemson twice this season for games. This month he plans to make two trips to USC, for the Florida and Clemson games. He’s not picked up any new offers so he’s sitting on ones from USC, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and The Citadel. Bailey said he’s been focused on his books and his team and hasn’t spent a lot of time on his recruiting, but he’s been in touch with the Gamecocks and Tigers. “I talk to USC and Clemson everyday thru social media,” Bailey said. “There’s no pressure, none of that kind of stuff. They just tell me to do what’s best for me. They were wondering how my season is going and they’re looking forward to seeing my film.” Bailey said he will also visit Oregon either late in the season or in December. Right now he has no favorites. “It’s going to come down to what the school brings as far as education and if it has my field of study,” Bailey said. He wants to major in criminal justice, engineering or architecture and construction. He did say USC and Clemson working the hardest for him, and there’s no favorite between the two. “Clemson is a great place to be and I enjoyed being up there,” he said. “And USC is a great place to be, also. Coaches there are awesome people as far as offensive line coaches go.” Bailey added that in particular USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott reminds him of his coach Buddy King who once coached at Clemson and at USC. He will not make a decision until sometime during his senior season.
With several offers, junior DL Tim Settle (6-3 307) of Manassas, VA does not have any favorites but he knows when he will make a decision. “I’m going to commit on October 18th, 2014,” Settle said. “I want my senior season to be in full swing and that will give me time to take all of my official visits.” Settle has not determined which schools he will visit and says he has no favorites. “I’m looking for a school with good academics and a place I can live and be taken care of,” he said. “I don’t know if distance from home matters.” Included in his offers are USC and Clemson. He likes both programs. “I saw Clemson play this weekend at Virginia,” Settle said. “I know they’re one of the top ACC programs. South Carolina always has a phenomenal defense and is a top SEC school. I plan on visiting both schools.” He has visited Virginia, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State and will visit North Carolina again this weekend. He has plans to attend the UVA-Virginia Tech game as well. His other offers include Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin. Settle has totaled over 70 tackles, 28 for loss, two sacks and four forced fumbles this season.
BASKETBALL NEWS:
6-7 Dante Buford, the Simpsonville native who attends Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, FL, announced a commitment to Oklahoma Thursday morning. Buford picked the Sooners over USC. He had also considered Miami. USC coach Frank Martin and his staff had made Buford a priority recruit for the 2014 class and made several visits to his school. Buford made two visits to USC this fall, one unofficially for a football game and an official visit last weekend. Buford’s decision leaves the Gamecocks with two commitments for the November signing period.
