DE Andrew Williams will get a visit from Clemson coaches Tuesday. He made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday for the Clemson game. Auburn and Ole Miss are the other schools high up on his list and he plans to set official visits with these four.
DB Wesley Green of Lithonia, GA visited USC unofficially Saturday for the Clemson game. Monday morning USC recruiters Lorenzo Ward and Grady Brown visited with Green at his school. “They were the second ones in,” Green’s coach Cortez Allen said pointing out that NC State was first in line. “I think it went real well. Coach Ward and I sat down and had a good conversation. They’re getting an official visit setup for mid-January for their big weekend.” Green will also set official visits with Georgia, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Allen said Green “loved the visit” to USC Saturday but he’s not claiming a leader and probably will go to Signing Day or close to it before making his decision. The Gamecocks coaches also got the chance to see junior DE Arden Key while at the school today but the rules prevented them from talking at length with him. Green and Key were once Gamecock commitments.
OL Damian Prince of Forestville, MD has trimmed his list to USC, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Maryland. He has taken an official visit to Maryland and is scheduled to visit Florida this weekend.
OL Kareem Are of Fort Scott JC, KS made his official visit to USC over the weekend and found himself caught up in the Gamecock fever. “It was the loudest stadium I’ve been in yet,” Are said. “It was a real good visit. I met with the offensive line coach and met most of the offensive lineman. He (Shawn Elliott) showed me how I could compete and fit in and that’s what I want. And they have great facilities.” Are also has taken official visits to Florida State and Penn State. He is considering a visit to Ole Miss and his Ole Miss recruiter is going to visit with him Tuesday. He’ll decide after that if he’ll visit Oxford. “I’ve just got a lot of school work to take care and I need to focus on that,” he said. USC recruiter Grady Brown also plans to visit with Are and his teammate, Gamecock commitment DL Abu Lamin, on Tuesday. Are said he is looking at making his decision on or by December 9th. Among the three schools he’s visited, Are said there is no favorite at this point.
DL Dexter Wideman of Saluda remains committed to Florida State but continues to hear from USC. Wideman visited Columbia over the weekend and spoke with some of the Gamecock coaches. “It was a lot of fun,” he said. “First of all, I enjoyed the game. Then I got a chance to talk to the coaches. I talked to coach (Deke) Adams and (G.A.) Mangus. They just told me I looked good and to keep working hard.” Wideman will return to USC for an official visit but has not scheduled the trip. “It’ll be after the Under Armour game,” Wideman said. “I know I’m going to take one to USC and one to FSU.” The decision is difficult for Wideman and the Gamecocks are giving him a lot to think about. “They told me that if I come in and work hard, I’ll get to make an impact as a freshman,” he said. “That’s really important to me. I want to play as a freshman.” He reiterated that he remains committed to the Seminoles and that he has a lot of factors to consider.
