Feb. 03, 2022
South Carolina target WR Malik Heath announced a commitment to Ole Miss as a transfer from Mississippi State. He visited USC last weekend. Heath is from the state of Mississippi and went to two years of junior college in the state before signing with the Bulldogs. He was offered by the Will Muschamp staff while in junior college and actually took an official visit to USC back then. He caught 71 passes in his two seasons in Starkville.
South Carolina commitment SAF DQ Smith of Spring Valley is not included on the list of signees for 2022 issued by USC this afternoon. He’s expected to enroll in this summer and be part of the 2023 signing class.
South Carolina has added more preferred walk-ons for their 2022 class, including a transfer kicker from Arizona State. PK Jack Luckhurst (6-3 175) is headed east to the Gamecocks. He’s a native of Santa Barbara, CA. He kicked 16 field goals in high school with a long of 51, but with the Sun Devils he only attempted one field goal in his career, a 49 yarder against UCLA he made in December of 2020. He did not attempt a kick last season.
Another PWO transfer joining the Gamecocks will be former Chapman star RB DJ Twitty (6-0 220) He played the last three seasons at East Tennessee State after redshirting in 2018. He rushed for over 2000 yards and 32 touchdowns as a high school senior, and had over 6000 career rushing yards and 70 touchdowns. He rushed for 36 yards last season for the Bucs.
Also transferring to South Carolina as a PWO is LB Colin Bryant of Alabama who is out of Wando. He did not play as a freshman with the Crimson Tide last season.
And the Gamecocks have added high school PWO CB Noah Abrams (5-11 175) of Powder Springs, GA to their roster.
