Recruits continue to make plans to visit South Carolina

Sept. 29, 2016

More guests confirmed

Two more 2018 prospects have confirmed weekend visit plans.

Quarterback Dakereon Joyner, who was in Columbia earlier this month for the home opener against ECU, will return for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M. The 4-star athlete from Fort Dorchester High School (North Charleston, S.C.) will be joined by his mother and aunt.

Also scheduled to be back on campus for Saturday’s game is 3-star guard Warren Ericson. South Carolina hosted the 6-foot-4, 290-pound prospect from North Gwinnett (Ga.) High School in the summer.

A few others have told SEC Country about their plans to visit South Carolina weekend:

  • 2017 DL Matthew Butler – Garner, N.C.
  • 2018 TE Zach Sheffer – Ponte Vedra, Fla.
  • 2018 WR Sam Pinckney – Greenwood, S.C.
  • 2018 QB Brayden Hawkins – Dillon, S.C.
Official visits scheduled

According to a report Carson Mason of sportstalksc.com, who’s been in contact with 2017 OT Jerry Drake Jr., the 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect will take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend.

“I mean, I like the school. I like their football program a lot, like, the trainers and the way coach (Shawn) Elliott coaches,” Drake said.

Drake, a 3-star from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High School, also has offers from Mississippi State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh.

Mason also reported official visit plans by 2017 DB Naytron Culpepper (Miami, Fla.). The Gamecocks will host the 3-star for an official visit next weekend, though Culpepper had initially planned to visit this weekend.
