Despite suffering a serious knee injury that was considered career-threatening early in the process and an overwhelming support from college football fans, it appears that South Carolina Gamecocks junior running back Marcus Lattimore will not return to school for his senior season.
Instead, NFL Draft insiders are rumbling that all signs point towards Lattimore forgoing his senior year in order to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.
The move would come as a surprise to many, especially those in Gamecock Nation.

Immediately after his serious knee injury, Lattimore was expected to return to the school as he rehabs his knee. It was just a few weeks ago that South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier seemed positive that Lattimore would return to the team, but a lot can change as the draft approaches.
For Lattimore, there is no doubt that a team will draft him. He has exceptional talent when he is 100 percent and a team will take a flier on his raw talent despite suffering serious knee injuries in back-to-back seasons.
There are no projections as to where Lattimore will get drafted, but it is hard to call declaring for the 2013 NFL Draft a bad move for the injured running back. Instead of rehabbing at the college level and never returning to the field, Lattimore will be able to get the best of the best medical attention while collecting a NFL game check.
