After many years and many miles our prodigal ragebot has returned.

Will Muschamp has taken many roads since he left Athens following his playing days. But it appears he will now be back in the Classic City, snarling for the home folks*. This has been easily the worst kept secret of the young SEC offseason (other than that Jeremy Pruitt was absolutely getting fired before Valentine’s Day), as Coach Boom has been seen around the football offices and Athens for a few days now.

What will his duties be? Heck if I know. I’m not sure it even really matters. Okay there are a couple of things he shouldn’t be allowed to do.

Although the Bulldogs have retained defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, inside linebackers coach Glen Schumann has drawn interest from LSU for their open defensive coordinator position and Georgia is currently without a defensive backs coach as Charlton Warren left Athens to take the defensive coordinator position at Indiana.

Might free up some cash for us, eh?

I really don’t know why anyone is supersized, Brad Scott destroyed our program and went to Clemson.  Why not Muschamp being carried off the field when Jawja kills us next time, it’s only right!!!!!

He was only hired for his inside information. But being we have had so many quitters, he may be gone within a few years just as Fat Brat was demoted until they canned him as his inside information on us ran out.

This was fairly predictable. He played at Georgia and he is good friends with Kirby Smart. Will is not a bad guy. He's just not a good head coach. I wish him well. My hope is he'll have the same level of success with Georgia's defense that he had with ours (wink, wink).

100% accurate.  Not worried about anything with this.  He's  a good man, ok coach, alum and the HC is a good friend.

My thought's exactly.

I think it will be a few years before Georgia worries about us.

the fired Gamecocks head coach agreed to be paid $12.9 million on or before December 31, 2020. He was due to be paid $15.3 million over the life of the contract, which was paid monthly through December 31, 2024.
Holy shit.

This worries me. If Muschamp teaches Georgia all of the secrets of our incredible defense, whatever will we do?

We gave this fired, ex couch $12M+ and there isn’t some sort of non compete clause?  WTF negotiated this?

Yep so right. Hope Gamecocks can get refund back on some of the contract money. :chickendance:

To me, the $12.9M lump sum payment says a couple of things:

1)  A contract like this should never happened.

2)  Reducing excessive spending may be the primary reason McMaster pushed for Caslen's hiring.

3)  Tanner is a rookie AD who gets too emotionally attached to his head coaches and it clouds his judgement with contracts.

4)  Recognizing the negative impact of Covid in college athletics that is basically beyond any coaches' control may have prevented us from bartering any further on the buyout at the time of Muschamp's firing.

Will Muschamp sitting on a bench in Savannah telling a woman waiting on a bus his life story:

"Since I had a gazillion dollars, I coached those DB's for free."
