Steelers Hall of Fame RB Franco Harris dies at 72
Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back whose heads-up thinking authored the "Immaculate Reception," considered the most iconic play in NFL history, has died. He was 72.
You know it was the camera angle of Harris running toward the camera at field level that made that play. I was 8 years-old back then and I remember watching that game the day it happened. Everyone was watching the play-offs instead of having the usual weekend pickup games in somebody's yard in the neighborhood.
I remember my mom bought me a jigsaw puzzle that had the Steelers vs. the Oilers in it. It was Frenchy Fuqua and the Steel Curtain in the picture instead of Harris. Close enough.
