Michael Roth knows he has a job waiting for him when his highly-decorated college baseball career finally ends sometime this month.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the ninth round of the MLB draft on Tuesday, Roth hopes to parlay a degree in international business into a lucrative career in the future.
Until then, Roth has more business to take care of. The lefthander from Greer will make the final home start of his career on Saturday in Game 1 of the Super Regional when South Carolina faces Oklahoma at Carolina Stadium.
With a win, Roth will take a third straight trip to Omaha in search of USC's third straight national championship.
But first things first. Roth carries a 23-6 career record in 90 appearances at USC, second only to teammate Matt Price, into Saturday's showdown with the Sooners. He is expected to be opposed by left-hander Jordan John, a former reliever turned starter who is 8-7 with a 2.29 ERA. (more)
