Anyone ever DIY a dlp chip? My 10-11 year old rear projection tv has started multiplying white pixels (most likely from the micro mirrors freezing up). I can buy a new dlp chip for around $260. This is my oldest TV, and has been GREAT -- located in my office/mancave.
About the best price I've received for installation is $170...If I do part + installation, I'm looking at close to $500 on a relatively "old" TV. At that price point, I'm probably more likely to just replace the TV. But if I can repair it myself for $260...I'd probably get a little kick of accomplishment, plus prevent a disposable problem. In general, I hate how all of the electronics today are essentially disposable items.
Just curious is anyone has replaced a dlp chip, and could offer any insight or advice...
