If Feathered is right (thanks for the info BTW) and Sark gets an interview, I am intrigued. He is generally thought of as an offensive genius a la Lame Kitten. Their careers certainly have had parallels, and have been remarkably intertwined.  I live near Seattle so was close at hand to watch his first HC gig at UW. He took over a winless 0-12 Huskies team and won 5 games his first season, including a huge upset over Pete Carroll's #3 Trojans. He upgraded the talent but never had an incredible year at U Dub in his five years there, then went to SoCal to take over for Kiffin, had a good first year, then it all unraveled. He has continued to be an offensive innovator at Bama and Saban not only gives him free reign but left him in charge for the Iron bowl which says volumes to me.

To me, Sark has the highest upside of any of the candidates. Like all of them, he comes with risk, but unlike the others, his risk has zero to do with football. How has he handled his demons? His tenure at Bama would seem to say to me that he is in good shape. And his success there is unquestionable - 533 yards per game is, well, ridiculous.

There is no perfect candidate, but like I said, I am intrigued.

Please , will the University stop the madness and let's hire Beamer get it done ,  he has everything you need to win .  Same thing happening all over again .   Read his profile please   Sark ws at the Falcons and could not get it done.

Read his profile please
I did.

Two years in Atlanta mean he's not qualified, but running Bama's offense to the tune of 533 ypg *this year* is not a qualifier? That logic makes no sense. I'm not anti-Beamer, but the idea that he "has everything you need to win" is pure speculation, because in fact, he has never done the job before. Every coaching hire is a leap of faith - some just more than others.

SARK, would just be using Carolina as an visit he's not committed long term, he does not have the ties he needs to get the players here anyway .

You don't know that. And he's got 533 really good reasons why players would come here and play for him. You think some high schooler in Florence cares that Beamer was a recruiting coordinator for Spurrier 10 years ago? Who would make a bigger impression on a 5-star: the former OC for the #1 team in the nation or the tight ends coach for Oklahoma?

I did.

O.K  he has all the 5 star players he needs at Alabama , we need someone who is proven he can go get the 5 star guy, all the high schools in S.C. N.C. and Georgia really like this guy he has integrity.  I am convinced that South Carolina will screw this up they always do somehow.

Like I said, I'm not anti Beamer. All of the coaches on the table are good recruiters. If it's not Beamer in the end - which would be safer because his lack of experience is a high risk - I'm sure that somebody like Napier would get the job because he was the BEST CANDIDATE. We'll see how it all plays out.

If Freeze isnt on our radar because of his past, then should Sark be? Seems odd if Freeze isnt strongly considered then to turn around and consider Sark. \

Sark also seems a west coast guy. I dont understand this one at all...

I think his success at Tuscaloosa helps both those things. And like I said, not all checkered pasts are equal. I think the optics (and let's be honest, all of this is about optics) of hookers and call girls is a much bigger stain than booze.

To me, it easy to understand: Agent calls, asks: "Alabama's OC is interested in your open job. He runs an offense putting 533 yards per game up on the board. He has experience running arguably one of the top jobs in college football before he ran into personal problems. He seems to have straightened those out (or Saban wouldn't have come within a mile of him). You interested in talking to him?"

If it was me, the answer would be yes. What do you have to lose?

I agree with you Swayin to a point, but the issue I have with all the Bama coordinators is that they get ridiculous talent at every position.  Is it the coordinator or the Bama cache attracting four and five star players?  That talent has made a lot of guys look really good and move on to HC jobs - some looking pretty good - Smart; others not so much - Pruitt; while others we'll still have to see.......

was it coaching or having talent that made his offenses good. We wont get that level of talent here and I wouldnt expect the same out of Sark.

I am not highly invested in any choice this go round.  Sark would be a welcome addition to the pot of choices though.

Totally agree - but also think Sark would see what Kiffin is doing at Ole Miss and realize he could put that in place here, and what SOS did when he was here. Spurrier is one of his idols, so don't discount that as a reason he would want to come here, too.

See above re: Kiffin and SOS. If we could put in place an offense that had the kind of talent we had with Garcia/Alshon/Marcus there isn't any reason to think Sark couldn't make that group sing, IMO.

And just to be clear guys, sometimes I just enjoy taking a question and flying it up the flagpole to see if it can be defended logically ... just as a discussion point. Sark is certainly an interesting point of discussion if nothing else.

I really believe that SARK would leave to get another shot at big time football  I mean Texas, L.S.U. AUBURN, TENN. if he is here at CAROLINA he would leave at an heartbeat and of course something happens at BAMA.  So that is the reason we need someone who wants to be at Carolina build something we're not an powerhouse never have been in football . We've only had 3 real good coaches Joe, Holtz, and Steve ,  It's an long shot with anyone their is no one wanting the job that is an good power 5 guy.  Need an guy who can sell the University to kids, and stay out of 5 points. I don't care either guy Beamer or Chadwell.  Napier who knows Napier he's already  said something to the effect that is Tanner going to be there, who cares if you can coach and win that's the key run you're program. Beamer and Chadwell will do that, we have had guys always looking to go somewhere else.
