South Carolina has made the first cut with highly recruited TE Davon Mitchell (6-4 245) of Los Alamitos, CA. The others on the list are Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Georgia. New USC offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains recruited Mitchell while he was at Arkansas and has continued to do so with the Gamecocks.
South Carolina offered 2025 OT Josh Petty (6-5 245) of Roswell, GA.
South Carolina commitment QB Dante Reno was offered by Miami according to 247Canes.
Riverside DT Marcus Downs was offered by Kentucky. LSU is also a recent new offer for Downs. He also has Georgia, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Miami among his offers.
RB Cortez Lane (5-11 180) has transferred from Camden to Cardinal Newman. He’s not yet received any offers but he did visit Tennessee for their junior day the end of January. He went to Georgia for a game last season, and he also visited USC several times going back to 2021. He’s also been to North Carolina and NC State. He said he is also drawing interest from North Carolina Central, Charlotte, James Madison, Appalachian State and Liberty. He plans upcoming visits to James Madison, NC Central and Charlotte. Last season Lane rushed for 794 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 33 passes for 469 yards and 7 touchdowns.
