I have been watching the Gamecocks for a long time. I watched when Clemson used to clean up the in state recruits in the 80's and used to kick our butts. I saw Mich St. win a National championship with a backfield all from SC. I saw Notre Dame and Lou Holtz win a national championship with a QB from SC. I've seen TN come in and steal our best when they were nationally relevant, and recently I have seen us recruit the state well almost locking it down and beating Clemson in state and our program has had it's best run ever.

I just took a look at the offers we have out now and I only saw 6 offers to instate kids. I know it is early, but we need to get the in state talent. We might not have the quantity that some other states like GA and FL have, but we have the quality and I feel getting the majority of the top 10-12 is imperative to keep the run going. I've heard SOS mention this, I hope we are paying attention.

Without getting too specific and calling out schools and names, we will be in great shape LCC. I expect us to sign 4-6 of the top 15 in-state kids this coming year, which should put us in great position with the addition of the out of state kids that we are currently pursuing. Plus we get to recruit a full 85 scholly class next year for the 1st time in 3 years. I think we will exceed this past years class (15th) nationally, and possibly break into the top 10 if the cards fall right. Lou don't matter, Butch don't matter,Honey Daboo don't matter,and MSU certainly doesn't matter going forward imo.

I  may not have my numbers in order, but didn't we nail down 5 - 6 of the top 10 in-state HS players this year? I think this is a trend that wil continue or even increase in the coming years as long as the success stays around.
