State championship Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium kicks of at noon with the Class 4A-Division II matchup between the Northwestern Trojans and the Greenwood Eagles. Northwestern is trying to win their first title since 2010 while Greenwood is looking for their first championship since 2006.
The Trojans are led by head coach Kyle Richardson and finished the regular season with a 9-2 record. They have beaten Easley (34-0), West Florence (40-28), and Bluffton (44-30) on their way to the state championship game.
The Eagles, led by head coach Gene Cathcart a, had an undefeated 11-0 regular season, and have defeated Fort Mill (42-7), North Augusta (34-32), and South Pointe (35-30) in the postseason thus far.
Korn caught up with both Kyle Richardson and Gene Cathcart to talk about their seasons and their state championship clash.
