The Not So Good
- Ahmad Christian got picked on a little bit tonight as well as Jessie Dukes
- Punting. I say punting instead of punters because it starts with the snap and very few were crisp and fast. However, the punters struggled. I personally would go with Williamson. When they are all on, he is the best. When they all shank one, his still goes the furthest.
- Will Sport didn’t play his best. Potential is there, just don’t think he is as far a long as I originally thought
The Good
- KJ Brent has gone almost unnoticed because of a little injury and so many recievers but he made a few big time catches and seems very reliable.
- The OL looks more in sync right now than I have ever seen them. At one point we needed a few yards and the OL made a group cut block while Nick Jones caught a quick slant. Olympic judges would have scored it a 9.9 in beauty
- Our stable of TEs is amazing. They can block, they can catch, they can get open and best of all; SOS is using them. Every play had some sort of TE action in it.
- RBs are so deep. One thing that I paid attention to is blocking and you can tell they have all worked hard on that. Also their route running and catching was exciting.
- Corey Robinson stood out to me. He looks like a different player. On one play Darius English (who is really fast) did a speed rush off his end and C. Rob handled him easily. His feet have gotten so much faster (as the entire OLs have) and it seems like he lost a little weight.
- Dylan Thompson is going to be a very serviceable #2. Shaw looked good. Its unfair to judge Shaw’s ability to run the offense in these situations because A) They cant hit the running back so he doesn’t really run it and You can tell he is purposely looking for deep threats but if he had to he would hit his check downs
- As poor as Punting was, all other aspects of Special Teams looked good. Bruce even ran a kickoff back
- Jared Shaw will see playing time. He got more snaps back at safety than anyone else and looked really good.
- I didn’t pay a ton of attention to LBs but they seem much quicker
- Qua Gilchrist looks like a true FB and had a nice catch in the flats
- Damario Jeffery literally plays like he is three years older. I expect to hear his name called often this year
- Our coaching staff is the best I have ever seen it here. I am only 28 so I don’t have a ton of history but these coaches
are amazing.
The Great
- Jerrell Adams, he is huge, he is fast, and gets open. He did have one drop but he also had many catches for big yardage. His best trait hasn’t even been talked about. He made several huge blocks seal blocking on 9 gap runs. HE is
the REAL DEAL
- Shaq Roland is getting better every single day, and looked like a 4th year junior out their tonight, and the crazy thing is I don’t think that surprised anyone on the team
- Defensive Line.
- #21 IS BACK. He looked great. I will be honest, I get really scared every time he gets tackled but he looks like he was never injured
Notes
- SOS got really mad at TJ Gurley twice for hitting hard and late. You can tell he likes contact
- The Scoreboard is FREAKING HUGE, it changes the feel of the stadium.
- I can never remember this many people showing up for a fall scrimmage and it was very fun to watch
- The “Goon Squad” is awesome. Being led by DJ Swearinger, this group brings so much intensity and fun to the entire team.
- I can’t wait for 30 August.
