Second change to MBB in offseason?

I'm not sure what areas he think he strengthened this past year that will make the results any different from last year.  He can't stop the dribble drive, period, and the rest of his defensive game is average at best.  You can get away with that in the NBA if you can be a consistently dominant scorer...not something his game has achieved yet.  I'm really hoping he applies any advice he gets from the NBA scouts this year to his game over the summer and fall.

I agree, if anything I think he regressed some this past year.

Has AJ made the decision to return yet?
Nothing formally announced, that I've seen.  He's still got a day to remove his name.  But I'd be shocked if he doesn't return.  If for some reason he does not, he's headed overseas.  No two-way deal for AJ at this time, as best I can tell.  (But then again, stranger things have happened... PJ Dozier, Brian Bowen, etc.)

AJ has more than 1 day to make up his mind. The NCAA announced last month that they were pushing back deadline day until the NBA determines the pre-draft process amid Covid-19 concerns. I'd imagine that this year's draft processes will be part of negotiations in getting the NBA season to resume. I think the draft will be moved to sometime in August and the deadline to withdraw sometime in the last 2 weeks of July.

All that said, AJ should definitely return for next season. Nobody has him listed in their mock drafts and I haven't seen him in the top prospect rankings. There's a lot he can work on to put himself in a better position to be drafted in 2021.

Thanks for the correction.  I had missed that, and honestly haven’t been paying much attention to the sports world as of late (unfortunately).  The pandemic dampened my desire to look for any NCAA hoops-related news.  Hopefully, I’ll get over that soon.

Can he still participate in summer workouts if he waits until the new deadline to decide?

I get it. There are definitely things more important than sports to be thinking about right now.

Heard on the 107.5 early show that in a recent interview with Frank, he expects AJ to be on campus June 29th unless something unexpected happens.

With AJ, Jermaine and Woods that backcourt could be poised to make some noise this basketball season, throw in Hannibal to go with Bryant and Minaya to give you some depth on the perimeter. I like the way this team is built when you have Wildens, McCreary and Frink to add beef and bang, they should be able to run and put defensive pressure on a team non stop with minutes from Moss and Anderson. Maybe a transfer that can bang a little...

I don't think we can take another transfer. Bolden transferring out put us at the scholarship limit of 13. The roster is 8 guard/wings and 5 bigs. We will have to rely on Frink, McCreary, and Leveque in the post early on, but hopefully Benson and/or Iriel gets a good grasp of the defense and can earn some minutes. I'm really interested to see how much McCreary and Leveque improve from year 1 to year 2. I know I say it every year, but I'm already looking forward to basketball.

Roger that, lost 3 and added 3 with Woods. I counted the Sr's thinking we loss 4 with Bolden but Wood's is one of the Sr's on the roster. Bryant and Minaya may have to do a little banging and I think both Benson and Iriel can give us productive minutes at a minimum on the defensive end of the floor by protecting the rim and giving 5 fouls. They both could surprise as I think they both move well for their size and have some mid range like Kotsar as well as being able to run the floor.

This is just me speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Lawsons are waiting to see if the NBA will hold a combine. If AJ wanted to go, he'd need a very strong showing in the combine. With the combine being up in the air (canceled as of right now), his draft status is also up in the air.

Also, I'd be interested to know if Zagoria and AJ's dad talked about AJ's future plans regarding professional basketball. Still in the draft is just a snapshot of right now without any indication of the final decision.
