To fill all the spots left vacant due to the portal. Hope the SC can get some quality players. So far not so good.

Two USC basketball targets who recently made visits announced commitments to other programs on Thursday. 6-5 Juwan Gary, a Columbia native and a transfer from Alabama, committed to Nebraska. And 6-11 Fede Federiko of Finland and Northeast Oklahoma JC, committed to Pitt. He had previously been committed to West Virginia.

The Gamecocks are waiting on word from 6-5 Citadel transfer Hayden Brown. He made official visits to USC, Loyola of Chicago and Georgia Tech and should be in the process of finalizing his decision.

Federico isn’t a surprise… his adoptive family lives in PA, and he finished his HS in PA (after starting in CA, post move from Finland), so he’ll be close to “home” at Pitt.

The last few days have turned this story around. First Hayden Brown from The Citadel, and today Meechie Brown, Jr. from Ohio State. Both are quality transfer pulls from the transfer portal. I'm, personally, quite intrigued by Hayden Brown, as he has a LOT of different tools in his toolkit and can be a very versatile player for the Gamecocks. The big question mark for him will be whether he can translate well in the SEC, but I believe he should be able to succeed well as a Gamecock... plus he's a bit older and the maturity level is there.
