Best plate race I have watched in a while and that's saying something. Kinda ironic that the plate tracks are bringing the fans back right now.

Chastain's watermelon smash is just as good as Cousin Carl's backflip for a victory celebration.

I am thinking about going to the May 8th Goodyear 400 race at Darlington.

The Wallace Grandstands (lower grandstands on the front stretch), which is where we sat for the Labor Day race, are already sold out. The Tyler Tower, which is the upper grandstands above those, still have plenty of seats for $99.

My sis and BIL can't go this time around, so I am going to go through my junk emails to scrounge up a discount code if there is one.

During normal times I am only 90 minutes away from the track, but still thinking about getting a hotel near the track to let a dip in the pool serve as a mini-vacation. Something in Hartsville to avoid the anticipated post-race traffic bottlenecks. Even better if they have a shuttle to the track so I can drink a few beers and not have to worry about driving back to the hotel.

Clint Bowyer drove Davey Allison's '92 Thunderbird around the track during the pre-race stuff. He wore Harry Gant's helmet. Listening to the comments, it appears to be from 1981 and probably came from the track museum.

Here is the complete footage from beginning to end.

Great time capsule. The only thing missing is Davey.

Sunday's Dover race is on rain delay until noon EST today.

Chris Buescher in the #17 won the pole for the Dover race, the first in five years for a Jack Roush team.

I watched the Indycar Honda GP of Alabama race yesterday. It is a truly beautiful track. The announcers mentioned it is the Masters of racing and that is indeed true.

Jimmie Johnson is running this series this year and they mentioned he had a screw in his right hand from a crash at Long Beach.

Not a bad crash, but the torque on that unique open-wheeler steering did a number on JJ's hand because he didn't let go of the wheel.

The injury may have caused a second crash at the same track.

Tough going for JJ.

Got my ticket for this Sunday's Goodyear 400 spring race at Darlington and looking forward to it.
