Several 4-star recruits added to weekend guest list

Friday’s visitors
The guest list for the final Will Muschamp Camp date is as follows, though not all prospects are expected to work out for the Gamecock coaches.
2018 targets
The state of North Carolina continues to churn out blue-chip prospects. At least two of from the state’s 2019 recruiting class will visit South Carolina this weekend.
J.R. Walker and Traveon Freshwater, 4-star teammates out of Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, have confirmed their plans to attend the Spurs Up recruiting event on Saturday.
The 247Sports composite ranks Walker as the No. 3 overall prospect from the state and the No. 10 athlete in the country. His overall national ranking is 117. In February, South Carolina offered him as a safety.
Freshwater was designated by Scout as a 4-star prospect, but has yet to land a rating anywhere. The Gamecocks offered Freshwater (6-3, 220) as a linebacker.
Their mutual offers include Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Both prospects are scheduled to camp at North Carolina State on Friday.
Also on Saturday
The rest of the weekend’s confirmed guest are as follows:
4-star movement
Georgia, South Carolina and Texas have all had their day in the sun as a trendy pick on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for 2018 safety Trey Dean.
Since Wednesday night, a flood of South Carolina picks have rolled through on the Crystal Ball. Rusty Mansell, a recruiting insider for Dawgs247, was first to pull the trigger. Seven other picks have followed.
Out of Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Ga., Dean (6-2, 180) is ranked by Rivals as the No. 14 safety in the Class of 2018.
Dean is scheduled to reveal a commitment on July 30.
Analysis: The latest trend on Dean borderlines on coming out of nowhere. Just days earlier, he listed a top 3 that didn’t even include South Carolina.
Two Florida State predictions rolled in for 2018 outside linebacker Channing Tindall, the top overall prospect from the state of South Carolina. Tindall was offered by the Seminoles on Thursday, after a camp workout.
On Friday, he’s scheduled to attend Friday Night Lights at Florida. Both visits come just days after he was on campus at South Carolina.
Tindall attends Columbia’s Spring Valley High School, which is also the alma mater of Michael and Peter Boulware. The brothers both played at Florida State before going on to successful careers in the NFL.
Analysis: Don’t consider this an effort to write off Florida State, because it isn’t. Not by a long-shot. But one of FSU’s picks was made by an “insider” whose merits are — quite frankly — suspect.
