With 10 starts our more from a P5 team with acceptable stats. Seems working in other programs might be the way to go here. Thoughts

Should the Gamecocks' bring In A Portal QB After the Season

Seems to have upgraded a lot of teams that have had QB from the portal work out well. Now a day's QB is a king pin to a successful offense anymore..
Can we get an entire O-line from the portal?
Would not hurt, but I want Doty to get the chance to show what he can do. I saw several comments on social media wanting Gauthier and Brown to get playing time. Doty has only started 4 games (I think) and some are already ready to move on.
Doty needs more time but also wouldn't hurt to have a better option. Maybe one the freshman is the guy, Colton? I just don't think this program is attractive for any transfer players with limited eligibility left. I mean, what have we done to show a QB can be successful? WRs/TE position isn't great. Scheme doesn't lend itself to piling up stats. OL...well you know. Running game is stagnant. I can't fathom why an xfer QB would want to come here for FB reasons.

I think the portal will become the equivalent of the salary cap in the NFL and created more parity in conferences in the long run.
Maybe, but I'd rather see us work with Doty and Gauthier (sp?). We're not going to get a 5 star through the portal. If I remember correctly Connor Shaw started slowly. Granted he had a great offensive line and blue chip receivers. I see a lot of him in Doty.
This is where we need help. I'm never going to turn down better players, but Doty hasn't had much of a chance to do anything, because he constantly has defensive linemen in his face. I think he will be a really good QB, if he ever gets a little time to look down the field.
