There's a clip on the WLTX that shows progress on the farmers market and new video scoreboard. You'll have to click on the link to watch it.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Gamecock fans, get ready to crow with delight.
As you may have heard, this fall fans will have a brand new HD video board and new spot to tailgate in the old farmers market.
The project is all on schedule to open this September.
"It's so exciting for Gamecock Nation," says Kevin O'Connell, USC's
Associated Athletics Director. "The sod is coming up, the grass is
coming up, the restroom buildings are closing in."
O'Connell says the team as well as the gameday atmosphere will be ready to compete with the rest of the SEC.
"Our vision for the trustees and the athletic director was always for
our band and cheerleaders to come off of National Guard Road...and be
dropped off about halfway back through the farmers market and the band
will lead the team right into the stadium," he says.
Nearly all of the 3,000 tailgate spots will come with power and cable
TV hook ups and a parking spot that includes a 10x10 area to set up a
tailgate tent.
Back inside the stadium, the 36 foot hight structure that will hold the new HD video board is complete.
"The video board will show up in two and a half eighteen wheel trucks on Sunday," he says.
USC officials also tell us that the designer of the trees that line
Bluff Road in front of the farmers market were hand picked. They
will bloom a red/scarlet--or garnet--color in the fall.
